Alex joined Social Development Direct in November 2022 as a Project Manager on the Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub Eastern Europe (SRSH EE). SRSH EE provides civil society organisations responding to the war in Ukraine with the tools, guidance, support and training to strengthen their safeguarding policy and practice around Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Sexual Harassment.
Alex has 8 years’ experience in international development and in particular, extensive experience of FCDO funded programmes. This includes time spent at King’s College London, supporting various international university partnerships under FCDO’s SPHEIR programme for innovation in global higher education (chiefly in Somaliland). In addition, whilst working at Save the Children, Alex provided financial support to the organisation’s £45million portfolio of Girls Education Challenge funding in Mozambique, Afghanistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Aside from UK aid, Alex has experience of a wide variety of funders, from UN agencies to philanthropy donors and across both development and humanitarian contexts. Whilst working within the sector, Alex has also spent time in South Sudan, Mozambique and the DRC.
