Jo Feather is a Principal Consultant in the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Portfolio. She has been working in gender and social development for over 20 years specifically on violence against women and girls, adolescent girls, sexual and reproductive health and rights, safeguarding and social norms programming. Jo has a strong track record in monitoring, evaluation, learning and research, with a focus on qualitative, participatory, feminist approaches.
Jo has worked across a range of programmes at SDDirect, including on the FCDO's Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub (RSH) where she co-authored a Global Evidence Review of SEAH in the Aid Sector. She was Team Leader on a UNAIDs Joint Programme evaluation looking at their work to prevent and respond to VAWG. She has held a number of long term technical advisor roles including on the Nigeria social norms change programme, Voices for Change (V4C) programme, and La Pépinière, an adolescent girls and young women’s economic empowerment programme in DRC, as well as several assignments for the VAWG Helpdesk.
Prior to joining SDDirect, Jo worked as an independent consultant for eight years supporting a range of civil society and private sector clients and organisations, including the FCDO funded Girls Education Challenge, Girl Effect and Options Consultancy. Prior to that she held a variety of senior technical advisor and programme management roles within a range of international NGOs, focusing on adolescent girls, VAWG, SRHR and evaluation and learning.
When not working, Jo enjoys running, yoga and being outside. She is a school governor of a large Bristol Secondary School.
