Lucia is a Technical Specialist in Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEL) and Research. In this role, she contributes to the delivery of a range of cross-cutting gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) related MEL and research projects across SDDirect’s portfolios. She is currently the MEL Officer for the Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub for Eastern Europe (RSH EE) funded by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and she is part of the team delivering a Technical Study on Measuring the Gender Impact of Quality Infrastructure Investments for the Asian Development Bank. Lucia brings M&E, research and project management skills developed through various roles in organisations in the private and non-profit sectors, and in multilateral organisations, based in the UK, Malawi, Guinea-Bissau, and El Salvador. Prior to joining SDDirect, Lucia was a Research Manager at Ecorys, providing research and evaluation services to governments, INGOs, and foundations. Prior to living in the UK, Lucia worked for Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) on an Intimate Partner Violence intervention and study during COVID-19 in Peru, as a Development Coordination Officer at Malawi’s United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, as a Research Assistant at Bissau Economics Lab (BELAB), and as programme assistant for the NGO ENGIM Internazionale in Guinea-Bissau.

Lucia holds an MA in International Development from Sciences Po Paris, where she was awarded an Advanced Certification in Gender Studies, and a BA in Political, Social and International Sciences from the University of Bologna. As part of her undergraduate studies, Lucia completed one academic year as an Erasmus exchange student at ISCTE-IUL in Portugal. Lucia is fluent in Italian (native), Spanish, Portuguese, and English, and speaks basic Bissau-Guinean Creole and French.
