Clare joined SDDirect as a Principal Consultant in the Gender-Based Violence team, with a specialism in GBV in Emergencies. She has a wealth of experience in NGOs, consultancy, donor governments and international organisations. For the past decade her main focus has been on delivering projects to support survivors of GBV and their communities in humanitarian contexts across the globe, including South Sudan, North East Syria and Myanmar.

Clare has worked to support local organisations to integrate GBV care in their humantiarian SRHR response; provided training and coaching on GBV in Emergencies to a range of audiences, and supported high level fora. She has also worked in the Women, Peace and Security sphere, evaluating progress for the European External Action Service, and supporting UN Women and the Afghanistan Government to develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for progress towards their National Action Plan. She has published on topics including national researcher wellbeing in humanitarian projects and a qualitative study of violence against women and girls in South Sudan.

Earlier in her career Clare worked in academic teaching and research posts, and was an intergovermental relations advisor in the Scottish Government. She holds a PhD and MA in Women's Studies from Lancaster University.
