SDDirect manages the GBV AoR Helpdesk (Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility Helpdesk), on behalf of the GBV Area of Responsibility, providing a unique research and technical advice service for all GBV in emergencies practitioners. This is a free and confidential research and advice service for humanitarian actors working on GBV risk mitigation, prevention and response in emergencies.

We have a roster of 25+ senior Gender Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) experts who are on standby to help ensure GBV-related assessments and interventions meet international standards and guidelines. Our services are free and confidential for staff working with UN agencies, international non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations, and women-led organisations and groups. No question is too big or small to ask.

In 2021, we responded to more than 100 requests for rapid technical support from GBV practitioners working in emergency contexts, including Arabic, French and Spanish-speaking countries. The GBV AoR Helpdesk also produces knowledge products that synthesise the latest research, evidence and learning on GBV in emergencies policymaking and practice.

You can contact the GBV AoR Helpdesk by emailing enquiries@gbviehelpdesk.org.uk and the Helpdesk will respond to you within 24 hours during weekdays. The GBV AoR Helpdesk is available 09.30- 17.30 GMT, Monday to Friday.
