UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT)

UK PACT is a UK Government funded programme that works in partnership with countries with high emissions reduction potential to support them to implement and increase their ambitions for tackling climate change. UK PACT focuses on five sectors: energy, finance, nature, mobility, and low-carbon policy. SDDirect is the gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) lead responsible for developing and implementing the GEDSI strategy, mainstreaming GEDSI across activities, and building capacity for more inclusive climate action.

What is UK PACT?

UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) is a flagship programme under the UK’s International Climate Finance (ICF) portfolio. The programme is jointly governed and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).  UK PACT funds projects which support partner countries to implement and increase their ambitions for carbon emissions reductions in line with their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). All UK PACT projects work to accelerate partner countries’ transition to low carbon development. The consortium is led by Palladium, with Arup and SDDirect as partners.

Our role on the project

SDDirect works to mainstream GEDSI throughout UK PACT. Our work includes building the capacity of the consortium and implementing partners, organising regular GEDSI Leadership and Learning Hubs, developing guidance and capturing emerging good practice on promoting GEDSI in climate change mitigation. Our team of GEDSI and Climate Experts support country and regional funds to mainstream GEDSI through their calls for proposals and support implementing partners by providing feedback, delivering training, and working with them to develop GEDSI action plans.
